In the next edition of author to author I am in conversation with the young & the restless, Abhay Raj Solanki, Founder, The Suman Publication - TSP (www.thesumanpublications.com).
He is not an author but to not talk about such a gifted person would be a crime & my Author to Author segment is about talking to some of the most wonderful people I am connected to in the world of publishing & writing.
Abhay founded TSP when he was only 13 years old and to someone like me, who found writing as his calling only when he was 35 years old, this was amazing. The fact that he has found his calling at such a young age is amazing. I feel lucky that I am connected with him. I have often taken advice from him for my own venture The Cog Publication LLP. He had also published my book Double One Zero (110) – Out of the shadows. Though I have dealt with many publishers, he and his team have by far been the best.
He was awarded the Best Young Entrepreneur award by the Indian Achievers Forum in 2020.
The Suman Publication Established in the year 2018 is helping young authors to publish their books at the most affordable publishing cost. We work to catch a glimpse of the smile on the author's and reader's face.
What inspires you the most? Other Dominating Publishers. They energize me so much to do work strongly. I just keep trying to fulfil the similar high-quality experience to our readers and authors as them and I got big backing from my dad, nothing was possible without him and his support.
When did you start 'The Suman Publications’? Do you remember the first book you published? I commenced it at the end of 2018. I published my book with my publication's imprint. It was a remarkable experience for me to do that because I never assumed of a book with my name and yeah, of course, I showed that off to my school's friends and teachers, they were jealous.
How did you got the idea to start a book publication house? I started TSP just to publish my first own book. Then unexpectedly somebody messaged me that he wanted to publish a book with my publications. Then it's where it started up.
What is your message to the young & aspiring authors who are willing to explore the new dimensions of creative writing? I think I am no one to give a message to anybody but I must say that don't stop. Never give yourself limits. You must have patience in yourself and believe me, it's a superpower.
Please let the readers know about your projects for the future? We are working on a children's book imprint of The Suman Publications. I always want to circulate good education to small kids at their young age with some enormous ideas which would help them learn in a very effective way. This is my ambition and I am working on it.
What’s your favourite and least favourite part of publishing? I published the first four books without any help from anyone. Yes, this is factual. I learnt everything about publishing from Formatting to Cover Designing. I also learnt many software's those were associated with publishing like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, CorelDraw and many others. I believe that my favourite thing was Converting the Manuscript into a print-ready manuscript, that experience was truly stunning. I used to do that with a software called InDesign. My least favourite thing was finding the spine size, I am bad at calculations.
How do you stabilize between your work and study? It's not easy but also not impossible. I think that’s what working tough sounds like.
Who was your favourite client? Jasveer Singh, a tremendous author with thousand of ideas loaded in his mind.
